Tam Gilker - Over 5 Years of Experience

 

Hi, I’m Tam Gilker, and I am the Shop/Repair Manager at Used Jewelry Buyer. My roles include buying and selling jewelry, managing inventory, managing repairs, and performing minor repairs/restorations. Working at Used Jewelry Buyer has been wonderful, and I feel like a valued part of our team. We get to work with such a wide array of people and variety of jewelry. I love the emotion that is stored in jewelry and getting to talk to people about where their pieces came from.

 

Prior to working at Used Jewelry Buyer, I studied metalworking at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, learning both jewelry and blacksmithing. That was just the beginning of my passion for working with these unique, one-of-a-kind pieces!

 

My favorite pieces are from the Victorian-era, especially lavaliers! I adore pearls and garnets, and anything pink and cute. We bought a circular Victorian pendant with a beautiful blue bow on it; she’s still my stand-out favorite! I also love seeing delicate pieces, seed pearls, and hair jewelry come into the store.

 

We love meeting new customers and seeing familiar ones return. Our team strives to provide a friendly, open, and comfortable experience every time you come to visit us, so you should expect honesty, patience, and curiosity every time you come through the door. We love seeing your pieces and hearing your stories! We openly discuss how and why we make offers and do our best to make sure you know exactly what you have. We never want to rush anyone's decision to sell; we know how important jewelry is, and selling it isn't a decision most people reach without a lot of thought. 

 

When I’m not working, I love spending my time reading sci-fi books, playing board games, and hanging out with my cats. If you’re a pet lover, me too, I’d love to see pictures of your furry friends when you come to visit!
